Deputy Chief Executive
Martin is from Hartlepool and began his career as a youth and community worker. In his current role as Deputy Chief Executive of Changing Futures North East he has developed, delivered and led the Charity’s services supporting the couple relationship (especially with separated parents) in Hartlepool and Teesside. Changing Futures North East is all about healthy relationships and their wealth of knowledge and experience on the subject, both in theory and in practice, was instrumental in informing the early planning and development for the Healthy Relationships Partnership.
In his role as part of the Healthy Relationships project team Martin has led in the delivery of training to give frontline practitioners the skills, knowledge and tools to better support parents to reduce inter-parental conflict. As well as training he is experienced in delivering interventions around the couple relationship himself as a group leader for the Parents as Partners group work programme.
Martin also helps other organisations to adopt a parental relationship focus and has been heavily involved in supporting the wider system in Hartlepool to make the strategic changes needed for effective systems change and parental relationship support. He is interested in the role organisational dynamics plays in system change, and how this can be used to positive effect within individuals, groups and organisations. He has recently completed a Masters Degree in Systemic Leadership and Consultancy at Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust.
In his spare time, he plays and coaches rugby union at a club in Hartlepool.
